This was our third year hosting Thanksgiving for Drew's family, but it was Breanna's first! We had a great time! Breanna's Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Chelsie, Uncle Tim and Cousin Amy all came to stay with us. It was Amy's first Thanksgiving as well, so it was neat for them to be together! To top it all off, we celebrated Christmas during this visit also, so you can imagine how exciting our house was!
Everyone got to the house on Wednesday afternoon. Our plan was to go to the Cincinnati Zoo's festival of lights, but it was raining and cold. We decided just to relax and stay home. I'm glad we did, because it was nice to be able to visit with everyone in the comforts of our own home. Breanna took some time to warm up to everyone, because it had been awhile since she had seen them. Grandma helped me give Breanna a bath though, and she showed Grandma how much she likes to splash and play in the water. After that Breanna was as comfortable as could be with Grandma!
The next day was the girls' first Thanksgiving. We watched Santa on the Macy's Day Parade and made sure to tell him that both girls had been very good this year!
That night we put the girls to bed and played a few rounds of skip-bo. We had a great time, until we realized the basement had flooded! Our sump pump didn't kick on, and with all the rain we had been having it needed to! Thankfully water didn't make it to the carpet, and we were able to clean up relatively easily. Unfortunately this is the second time this has happened, so we had to figure out a way to fix the problem. There's never a dull moment in our house!!
The next day Drew had to go to work while Uncle Tim and Grandpa put in a backup battery sump pump. This was a lot of work, and we are beyond thankful!!! They worked ALL day to get it in!
Everyone had to leave as soon as the work was finished, and we were sad to see them go!
